In honor of National Health Center Week, August 8 – 12, YourTown Health is offering free health screenings. The offer is open to any new patient or existing patient who hasn’t been to the center in over a year.
“We see the week as a celebration of good health,” said Jon W. Wollenzien, Jr., Chief Executive Officer. “We invite you to call your local YourTown Health center and mention ‘Your Family. Your Health. YourTown.‘ for a free screening, and be sure to schedule your free good health check-up by August 12,” he added.
The free screening consists of a physical exam and lab work that includes…
- Blood pressure
- Comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP), which measures sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance, as well as kidney and liver function
- A1C, which tests blood sugar and is the primary test for diabetes management
- Basic lipid panel to measure total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels
- TSH test, which measures the amount of thyroid stimulating hormone in your blood to evaluate thyroid function
One of the bright spots in America’s healthcare system, health centers started more than 50 years ago as a pilot project during President Lyndon Johnson’s administration. Today, there are approximately 1,200 community health centers like YourTown Health across the nation. They produce an estimated $24 billion in annual health system savings by providing preventive and primary care to over 22 million people, including 1 in 10 children in the U.S., who might otherwise not have access to care or rely on emergency rooms.
YourTown Health is a non-profit network of six community health centers serving the communities of Meriwether, Pike, Lamar, Carroll, Coweta and South Fulton counties for over 35 years. The centers provide access to quality primary care, pediatric care, women’s care, dental care and more, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. The Palmetto location features dentistry, a pharmacy, plus obstetrics and gynecology services, as well as a fully bilingual medical staff. YourTown Health – Your Family. Your Health. YourTown.
