For more than 20 years, nurse practitioner Ashley Rainwater has called West Georgia home. Today, she brings her heart, extensive medical background, and deep roots to YourTown Health’s Carrollton location, providing accessible primary care to her neighbors.

A Journey Driven by Heart

Rainwater’s path in medicine spans more than two decades, including 14 years as a registered nurse. Throughout her career, she found herself working in a variety of medical environments, from big-city hospitals to working alongside the National Guard during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Managing her family’s complex health journeys inspired her to take another step in her professional career: earning a master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner.

That drive now fuels her work at YourTown Health, where she carries a deep empathy for those facing healthcare accessibility challenges. “I love the idea that we’re helping people,” Rainwater says, “and providing services to folks who have been suffering for years and can’t afford healthcare.”

Care That Starts with Listening

If you sit down for an appointment with Rainwater, expect a conversation, not a rushed lecture. She prioritizes building genuine relationships with every patient who walks through the door. Leaning into transparency and relatability, Rainwater says she strives to foster trust with patients, especially those skeptical of providers.

“I view them not as a patient, but as a regular person that I’m trying to get to know and help,” she explains. “I’m just very honest with them, letting them know I’m going to listen and take care of them.”

Her primary passion lies in chronic disease management, particularly diabetes and hypertension. She focuses on lifestyle and dietary education out of the gate. “It always goes back to the basics: diet and exercise,” says Rainwater. “I love educating people and helping them better their lives and their health so that they can live longer, be healthier, and take care of their children.”

Accessible Care for the West Georgia Community

Rainwater understands the unique healthcare challenges facing rural families, from access issues to financial strain. That’s why she takes great pride in being a team member of YourTown Health, where quality medical attention is available to everyone, regardless of insurance status. Through sliding-fee scale programs, patients can receive clinic visits, essential lab work, and low-cost pharmaceuticals.

Life Outside the Clinic

When she isn’t caring for patients, Rainwater stays active in the local community. You can usually find her spending time with her husband and daughter, taking her two poodles on hikes, playing pickleball, or enjoying the outdoors.
