October is National Dental Hygiene Month. YourTown Health is celebrating by dedicating this month to our amazing dental hygienists, Brandi Maze and Kristy Hold.

Our dental hygienists are your first line of defense for good oral health. They understand the importance of keeping a regular dental health routine and can help you perfect your technique.

Kristy, our dental hygienist at Palmetto, says, “It’s important to remember that good oral health is the foundation for good overall health.” Brandi agrees, “Good dental hygiene does more than prevent cavities. It can also prevent other health issues. Bacteria from mouth infections such as gum disease can affect organs like the heart.”

The Daily 4

Come in and talk to our dental hygienists about the importance of The Daily 4. These are the four steps that lead to a healthy smile:

  1. Brush: Brush your teeth for two minutes at least twice a day
  2. Floss: Though you may have heard news reports recently about the effectiveness of flossing, YourTown Health is still a strong believer that flossing is an important part of your dental health
  3. Rinse: Rinsing with an antimicrobial mouthwash helps to reach the bacteria that brushing and flossing cannot
  4. Chew: Chewing sugar-free gum after a meal will help to stimulate salivary glands in your mouth that neutralize acid and clean out food

Our dental clinics at Greenville and Palmetto can help you prevent tooth decay and gum disease with regular cleanings, fluoride treatments and education about maintaining a healthy smile. If you have an urgent problem, YourTown Health also provides a full range of treatments including filling cavities, performing root canals, treating abscesses and extracting teeth.

The YourTown Health dental clinic in Palmetto is open 7AM to 5:30PM, Monday through Thursday and 8AM to 12 noon on Friday. To schedule your appointment, call 770.463.4644.

Our Greenville dental clinic is open 8AM to 5:30PM, Monday through Thursday and 8AM to 12 noon on Friday. To make an appointment, call 706.672.0819.
